Facebook Smartwatch is expected to roll out next year

FACEBOOK SMARTWATCH

The very interesting news is coming up from Facebook related to Facebook Smartwatch. All the specs are seemed to be appealing. We’ll be discussing all the specs and features of the Facebook Smartwatch. What are Facebook’s long term goal by doing so?

Facebook has never stopped trying to get its hands on everything. In 2013, it tried it with htc phones, which was a major flop. Simultaneously working on its own digital currency Diem. Now, it’s going for the smartwatch market.

Facebook Watch Specifications

The Facebook Watch is rumoured to come with a detachable display. Yes! you heard it right. You can detach the display and use it in different cases – use it as a camera. The Facebook watch will feature two cameras – A front camera for video calling stuff and with the rear camera you can record up to 1080p video. Now, you’ve recorded the video but what will you do with that video. Guess what?

Facebook, Whatsapp and Instagram Integration

You can post the videos captured by the Facebook Smartwatch on Facebook, Whatsapp and Instagram. What Facebook is trying to do here? It is basically trying to launch a competitor for Apple Watch (maybe)at the same price point without using Google WearOS but with its own hardware.

Facebook Smartwatch Launch Date

Coming to the launch date, the company is expected to launch the Facebook Smartwatch the next summer. In fact, as per Verge.com, Facebook has tie-up with other companies for smartwatch accessories. For instance, hang it on your pack back or in the form of a necklace like in the case of InstaGo. So yeah, gear up for yet another category of accessories from the house of Facebook.

Facebook Smartwatch’s Idea

Mark Zuckerberg is planning to take smartwatches to the level of smartphones and integrate all the accessories into our daily lives. My personnel preference is that let a Smartwatch be a Smartwatch only. What’s the need to make Smartwatch a Smartphone? We all carry a smartphone already. However, it would be interesting to see how the integration of the Facebook Smartwatch takes place and at which level.

Dependency of Facebook

Facebook, as a software, is heavily dependent on Google as well as Apple. Because it lacks in its own platform. Basically whatever device we’re using- Android or iOS, Facebook is ultimately running on these devices only. Also, you’ve noticed what Apple highlights the most – Privacy Matters .i.e., once you join the Apple ecosystem, you’ll get the most privacy as compared to Android. As we all know Apple restricts its App to fetch minimum data It was Apple only through which we’re able to identify how much data Whatsapp and Facebook are taking from Apple devices.

All of Facebook’s, Instagram’s and WhatsApp’s mischief isn’t new in town. And, Apple restricts whatever data they collect from the user. Subsequently, this is a problem for Facebook. This is why it is trying to enter into the hardware segment. Although it failed in the Phone segment. This will give a competition to Apple Watch and Google WearOS.

Imagine, you’re wearing a Smartwatch of Facebook. The heart rate is being synced in real-time. Earlier, Facebook knew only the location of the user. But, from now onwards Facebook will also know what our heartbeat is saying.

Facebook Smartwatch with E-Sims?

Now, you may be thinking that how would they come to know about our heartbeat, we’ll not sync the phone only. Then, what? Because Facebook has tie-up with wireless LTE companies to provide you with a pre-embedded sim with smartwatch itself. This is based on the concept of Verizon and Tmobile, preferably called sim-locked versions, in the case of the US. This simply implies it does not require any phone pairing. It would be a stand-alone device. However, there’s plenty of time for the launching of the first version of this smartwatch. But the colours have already been rolled out now – White, Gold and Black.

Facebook Smartwatch Future Plans

There is a startup called CTRL which was earlier acquired by Facebook. Now, what that startup is doing? CTRL is now able to make a technology that can control the computer by using the movement of your wrist. Now, Facebook owns this. And, Facebook is into making smartwatches. You’re smart enough to understand that in which direction Facebook is stepping into.

Facebook is, all in all, trying to develop its own platform. It’s possible that this concept would work and market shares of all the devices integrated with Facebook rise up. I am clearly not saying that if it’s starting from today, it will gain massive market share from today itself. However, there’s no doubt it will gain enough market share in the coming 5-10 years.
