Flipkart SmartPack Or ScamPack !? Too Good To Be True

Have you seen the Harshad Mehta Scam 1992? It was a Fabulous experience. However, have you seen Scam 2021? No! Allow me to do the honor. Flipkart SmartPack (cough cough)

It’s true that people should develop and evolve through time. But scams and advertising gimmicks, on the other hand, too evolve with time. This is also something to consider.

Flipkart recently launched the Smart-buy concept, which at first glance appears to be highly attractive.

This states that if you buy a phone now and use it for around a year and a half before returning it to Flipkart, you will get a REFUND. The only requirement is to turn ON so that the IMEI number may be extracted even if you return it with a broken screen. Then, if you buy a new phone, Flipkart promises to refund your entire purchase price, directly into your bank account. Isn’t that cheesy?

Let’s take a closer look at this programme.

If you’re thinking about buying an iPhone or another flagship smartphone and returning it to Flipkart after a year. Please note that this offer is only available for mobile phones ranging from Rs. 6k to Rs. 17k. You must also subscribe to one of their packs: bronze, silver, or gold. Terms of use of Flipkart Smartpack

You need to pay a monthly fee to Flipkart. In return, you get few OTT monthly packs. This is just to make consumers feel like they’re paying for the OTTs and not solely for the SmartPack.
Cheesy Enough?

This analysis adheres to the following criteria.

• Gold Plan(costs Rs. 1579 for 18 months)
• Realme 7( costs Rs.17k)

Also, Lets take a look on what Flipkart offers in return.

• Disney Hotstar VIP – Rs.399
• Sony LIV – Rs.399
• Zee5 – Rs.840 (after 16%discount)
• Zomato Pro – Rs.800
• Voot Select – Rs.399
• Mobile Protection – Rs.500*(varies from Re.1 to Rs.1500)
• Practo Plus – Rs.2400
• Med Life – Rs.N/A(only discounts)
• Ganna+ – Rs.399
• CureFit – Rs.2000
• DocsApp – Rs.1899
• Eros Now – Rs.399
• Voot Kids – Rs.499

When you add it all together, you have to pay Rs.11532 for one year.
However, because the Gold pack is for 18 months, the total cost would be Rs. (11532 + 5766) = Rs. 17298, which is the true cost of everything if purchased for 18 months.

Whereas Flipkart is asking for (Rs. 1579 * 18) =Rs. 28422
You, on the other hand, paid Rs. (28422 – 17298) = Rs. 11124.

Flipkart Smartpack is strange.

Flipkart has created a strange triangle, involving medical apps on one end, food apps like Zomato Pro on the other, and fitness apps like Curefit on the third. We all know that the vast majority of users will only use two apps at a time.

Returning to our estimates, what do you estimate the phone will cost after 18 months?
I’m guessing Rs. 12,000. If I sell this phone on Flipkart or Amazon, I should be able to collect roughly Rs. 4000. As a result, the loss is Rs.13,000. This essentially implies that I’m telling Flipkart to take Rs. 28,500 from me and offer me Rs. 17,500 worth of OTT apps, half of which I’ll never use. You simply take the rest of the money and make sure that the loss of Rs. 13k does not occur.

Now, if you do some basic math, you’ll see what I’m talking about.
Flipkart will refund you Rs. 5876 (Rs. 17000 – 11124) for your phone. Is this even logical?

Hidden Clauses

1.  If you choose to stop paying the Flipkart cost, your OTT 
   bundles will stop as well. You will not be reimbursed for any 
   money you have already paid.
2.  There is an Rs.300 penalty if the charger is not returned.
3.  There is an Rs.500 penalty if the box is not returned.
4.   A Rs.100 late fee in case you delay any monthly payment.
5.  No plan swapping is permitted.

It is a plea from my end that if you consider purchasing any plan.
Please disregard it. It’s a complete scam. Spending your hard-earned money on such evil schemes is a waste of time. I cannot, under any circumstances, recommend it to anyone. I’ve seen a lot of major YouTubers promote this programme. Perhaps it’s because the Flipkart public relations team is approaching them. Another side of Flipkart Smartpack

If this scheme would have been a genuine one, then this would have been applicable to all smartphones and not to some specific phones. The customer would then be able to get the most out of it.

Furthermore, one of the program’s highlights is that it accepts phones with damaged screens.
The truth is, we’re already purchasing the mobile protection package. If your phone is damaged, Mobile Protection will provide free pick-up and drop-off service as well as repair. As a result, Flipkart had no need to stress the broken screen.

Have you ever wondered why this service is only available on mobile phones?
Let me tell you something. Because you click Proceed to Pay as soon as you see 100% cashback. While on a computer, anyone might check who is paying whom by using calculators side by side. Or comparing and detailing the offers in other browser tabs which are not so happy experience in case of mobiles.
