Hey everyone, After listening to the satellite name one thing that comes to our mind – the sky. So today we are going to talk about OneWeb satellite Internet. Also, Airtel has invested some money in one web. A few weeks ago, OneWeb launched 28 satellites in orbit. After these 28 satellites, this makes a group of 2818 satellites in earth’s orbit.

But there are a lot more things which we should discuss.

News from Satellite Companies

If we talk about satellite companies, there are loads of news coming every week from these companies. Such as Starlink announced a few weeks ago that they had launched a specific number of satellites into Earth’s orbit. Also, we are seeing news from one web, Amazon, etc.

Euroconsult is a big satellite consultancy firm. According to Euroconsult, in our current decade, 1250 satellites will be going to launch every year into lower Earth orbit. 70% of the satellites were used to provide satellite Internet. If we see the number of means that after a few years we are totally covered from everywhere from satellites. And might also be possible that we see the different type of developments From the satellite Internet.

If we talk about one web, they have a project running currently which will launch satellites to 5 to 50 degrees in the North. This means they will start the satellite Internet service commercially till this year ends. There are 6 areas that are covered by this satellite Internet service: UK, Alaska, Northern Europe, Greenland, the Arctic sea, and Canada.

Manufacturing of Satellite

They build these satellites at a joint venture facility in Florida. They can produce two satellites in a day at their facility.

There is a huge difference in their technology when comparing the Star link satellite to the One Web satellite.

Star link’s technology is at a very advanced level as compared to One Web. One Web uses very old technology.

At the same time, Star link claims that it has many benefits from the satellite. Because they make their own satellites. Their reusable rockets give them a huge edge in the satellite building.

Satellite launches have been taking place in the lower orbit of the earth since the 1990s for commercial purposes. From the earth’s surface to the lower orbit, it is 160 to 1500 km above.

Satellite Signals

Now, many of you have a question about how is it possible to transfer wireless signals from that much distance? This happens because the wireless signal in space travels much faster than on earth. That’s also the reason why the latency with satellite is too much less just like fiber. Comparing these signals with the ground level internet, we cannot say that this will defeat the ground internet but it will give good competition to ground level internet.

Cost of Implementation

Now, it is also said that satellite Internet latency travels at a speed of 27,000 kilometers per hour. Which will keep contact with the antenna for one to 2 minutes. In this case, what companies do is they make a fleet of these satellites. To make a satellite network, the company needs too much money and capital. Launching too many satellites and connecting them with ground antennas is not an easy task.

That’s also the reason why satellite Internet is too much expensive compared to cell towers or fiber internet. That’s also the reason the CEO of Airtel, Sunil Mittal has said that they are launching one web in India. But they only brought this service to the areas where Internet services are not available.

This statement from Sunil Mittal clarifies that in big areas such as Mumbai, Delhi will not receive one web service at first. But in the future, there might be possibilities that they will bring The OneWeb to more areas. Also, if these big cities come near rural areas where Internet service is not available, then there might be chances that they will get OneWeb service.

That’s it for today’s blog. Also, let us know what you think about satellite internet. If you have an option to buy. Starling to order. One web for Amazon. Which one will you buy?
